Types Of Rap Music

For those who are not very acquainted with the Hip-Hop culture or types of Rap music, you are probably not aware of the fact that Rap music comes in a variety of different forms. These different genres of music have been around for ages. Some of the popular ones include:
- West Coast: The West Coast rap music enjoyed huge popularity all over the nation in the middle of the 1980s.
- East Coast: This music genre is mostly noted in the city of New York with Big Daddy Kane and Rakim breaking through the music form to emerge as a nationally coveted phenomenon.
- Dirty South: The hiphop artists down the south popularised this music form and broke the age-old notion that rap music is only the element of the north.
- Pop Rap: This genre of music is well-known for its pervasive and mainstream appeal.
- Christian Rap: This form of music took off greatly in the later stages of the 1980s and got extremely popular in the early 1990s.
Pop rap, Jazz rap, Electro rap, Conscious rap and others are some of the other well-known rap music forms.
