It was a scene to behold: the café was covered in prints that Nick shot during illegal urban explorations of squats in Berlin, there was a bunch of half-naked Australians lurking out in the freezing cold practicing an esoteric Japanese dance form.
A makeshift gypsy band hidden under the concrete stairwell, an aerialist from Montreal hanging above a pair of drunken secretaries from L.A., a beat-boxing New Yorker looping himself infinitely, a pair of British buskers with Mohawks beating wildly on household objects, a collection of puppeteered Barbie dolls lip-synching to “Ace of Spades,” a roving confessional booth and a magnetic science experiment using My Little Ponies.
Oh, and then The Dolls beat the living daylights out of a piano, and a drum-set while everyone sang along.

Bryan Ferry’s latest album “Dylanesque” sees him reinventing a selection of his favorite Bob Dylan songs in the unique Ferry style.
“Dylanesque Live: The London Sessions” shows him performing all the tracks from the album “live in the studio” and also features insights from Bryan on his thoughts regarding the different tracks and why he chose them. The DVD includes both the TV broadcast version (which went out as “Bob Dylan Revisited”) and additional material.

Just watched Layer Cake, a british crime drama where Daniel Craig ( The new James Bond ) plays a nameless West End coke dealer that is trying to get out of the business but is tasked by bossman Jimmy Price ( HBO’s Rome’s Pompey Magnus - Ken Cranham ) to take on a couple unconventional tasks.
Layer Cake was produced and directed by Matthew Vaughn of Lock Stock and Two Smokin Barrels fame ( also Guy Ritchie’s best man when he married Madonna ) and it features his trademark look, without the over the top flash of Lock Stock or Snatch, nor any of the fun of those films.
If Layer Cake is not gritty it does feature a more realistic atmosphere and more down to earth characters. It tries to take the standard plot twists to an extreme featuring double cross after double cross told from the point of view of the main character.
Overall, while this is not a great movie, it is enjoyable if you enjoy the genre and deserves a slot in your netfilx queue.
